Jai Parvati Mata

जय पार्वती माता

Jai Parvati Mata is a short Hindi aarti to Goddess Parvati, Shiva's consort and the mother of Ganesha. Its refrain and seven stanzas recall her birth as Sati and then as the daughter of the Himalaya, her victory over Shumbha and Nishumbha, and her joyful life with Shiva. Women sing it at Teej, Karwa Chauth and Gauri puja, and on Mondays.

Refrain

Jai Parvati Mata, Jai Parvati Mata

Brahma Sanatan Devi, Shubh Phal Ki Data

Glory to Mother Parvati, glory to Mother Parvati! You are the eternal Goddess, the Supreme itself, who gives good fruit.

Verse 1

Arikul Kantak Nashini, Jai Sevak Trata

Jag Janani Jagdamba, Harihar Gun Gata

You clear away the hosts of enemies like thorns. Glory to you, protector of those who serve you! You are Jagadamba, mother of the world, and Vishnu and Shiva sing your praise.

Refrain

Jai Parvati Mata, Jai Parvati Mata

Brahma Sanatan Devi, Shubh Phal Ki Data

Verse 2

Singh Ko Vahan Saje, Kundal Hai Satha

Dev Vadhu Jas Gavat, Nritya Karat Tatha

You ride the lion, and earrings adorn you. The wives of the gods sing your glory and dance to the beat.

Refrain

Jai Parvati Mata, Jai Parvati Mata

Brahma Sanatan Devi, Shubh Phal Ki Data

Verse 3

Satyug Roop Sheel Atisundar, Naam Sati Kahlata

Hemanchal Ghar Janmi, Sakhiyan Sang Rata

In the Satya Yuga, lovely in form and nature, you were called Sati. Then you were born in the home of Himalaya and played happily with your friends.

Refrain

Jai Parvati Mata, Jai Parvati Mata

Brahma Sanatan Devi, Shubh Phal Ki Data

Verse 4

Shumbh Nishumbh Vidare, Hemanchal Sthata

Sahasra Bhuja Tanu Dhari Ke, Chakra Liyo Hatha

You tore apart Shumbha and Nishumbha, you who dwell in the Himalaya. Taking a form with a thousand arms, you held the discus in your hand.

Refrain

Jai Parvati Mata, Jai Parvati Mata

Brahma Sanatan Devi, Shubh Phal Ki Data

Verse 5

Srishti Roop Tuhi Hai Janani, Shiv Sang Rangrata

Nandi Bhringi Been Lahi, Sara Jag Madmata

Mother, you are creation itself, joyfully absorbed in Shiva's company. Nandi and Bhringi take up the veena, and the whole world is lost in delight.

Refrain

Jai Parvati Mata, Jai Parvati Mata

Brahma Sanatan Devi, Shubh Phal Ki Data

Verse 6

Devan Araj Karat Ham, Charan Dhyan Lata

Teri Kripa Rahe To, Man Nahin Bharmata

Like the gods, we bring you our prayer and fix our minds on your feet. While your grace stays with us, the mind does not lose its way.

Refrain

Jai Parvati Mata, Jai Parvati Mata

Brahma Sanatan Devi, Shubh Phal Ki Data
