Shri Ramchandra Kripalu Bhaju Man

श्रीरामचन्द्र कृपालु भजु मन

Shri Ramchandra Kripalu Bhaju Man is a five-stanza hymn to Lord Ram by Goswami Tulsidas, pada 45 of his Vinaya Patrika. It asks the mind to worship compassionate Ram, who removes the dread of worldly life, and describes his lotus eyes, cloud-dark body and yellow robe. It is sung on Ram Navami and Diwali, in bhajan sandhyas, at the close of Sundarkand and Ramayana recitals, and in daily evening prayer.

Chhand 1

Shri Ramchandra Kripalu Bhaju Man Haran Bhav Bhay Darunam

Nav Kanj Lochan Kanj Mukh Kar Kanj Pad Kanjarunam

O mind, worship compassionate Shri Ramchandra, who removes the dreadful fear of worldly existence. His eyes are like freshly bloomed lotuses; his face, his hands and his feet are like rosy red lotuses.

Chhand 2

Kandarp Aganit Amit Chhavi Nav Neel Neerad Sundaram

Pat Peet Manahu Tadit Ruchi Shuchi Naumi Janak Sutavaram

His beauty surpasses that of countless Kamadevas; he is lovely as a fresh dark rain-cloud. His yellow robe gleams on him like lightning. I bow to that pure one, the husband of Janaka's daughter.

Chhand 3

Bhaju Deenbandhu Dinesh Danav Daitya Vansh Nikandanam

Raghunand Anandkand Kosalchand Dashrath Nandanam

Worship him, the friend of the helpless, radiant as the sun, who uproots the race of demons; the joy of the Raghus, the root of bliss, the moon of Kosala, the son of Dasharatha.

Chhand 4

Sir Mukut Kundal Tilak Charu Udar Ang Vibhushanam

Aajanubhuj Shar Chaap Dhar Sangram Jit Khardushanam

A crown is on his head, earrings in his ears, a lovely tilak on his brow, and splendid ornaments on every limb. His arms reach to his knees; he bears bow and arrows; he conquered Khara and Dushana in battle.

Closing

Iti Vadati Tulsidas Shankar Shesh Muni Man Ranjanam

Mam Hriday Kanj Nivas Kuru Kamadi Khal Dal Ganjanam

Thus says Tulsidas: O delight of the minds of Shiva, Shesha and the sages, you who destroy the wicked band of desire and the other inner enemies, make your home in the lotus of my heart.
